France is known for its innovative filmmaking with great and ambition animation schools: Gobelins and Supinfocom. Their students produce award-winning animated films year after year.
Skhizein won the audience award at Annecy, the Kodak award at Cannes, and just recently took home “best short” at the Manhattan Short Film Festival: the first time an animation has taken that prize I believe. It's great connection with story, design and animation. It has a limited color palette and a great examination of figures.
Un Tour De Manége (Merry-Go-Round) tells about a young girl who hops aboard a floating merry-go-round only to be separated from her mother. It's a lovely animation with symbolic imagery and stunning rainbow water-colours of animation. As great as all french films.
This is what I will definitely do when I have a HUGE amount of FREE time.
Javan Ivey - My paper mind
This cool animation technique, called Stratastencil, created by adding layers of cut paper.
The author Javan Ivey showed some pictures of his working process in the blog.
Looks like a magic and lots of patience.
As an additional inspiration for me there is commercial video of a book made for NZ Book Council. I love the atmosphere of the film, the narrative and cut-out technique, which are great.
Flip book (early as Kineograph)is a form of animation like motion pictures.
I loved flip books when I was a child and I still want to try to make my own one.
I found a website with a programme "Flipbook Printer" to help quickly to make your own.
Also here explanation how to make as well.
